Born, Meaghan Cooper, Meg was raised in the Hill Country of San Antonio, TX. After years spent moving around the United States to pursue her singing and acting career, she now happily resides in Chicago, IL with her amazing husband, two beautiful daughters, and their beloved dog and cat.
A songwriter for most of her life, it wasn't until she turned to story writing that she found her true passion. She has a deep love for fashion and animals, and is a member of the CWA, and WFWA. She studied Communications with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Meg was born on February 14th 1986 in San Antonio, TX to parents Kent and Susan Cooper. When Meg was two years old, her parents divorced, and her Dad moved to Florida. After her mother's second marriage came to an end as well, she was solely raised by her mother, and helped her mom with her two younger brothers. As a child, Meg was a Girl Scout, and spent most of her childhood climbing trees, and frequenting the Texas beaches with her friends. From a young age, Meg excelled at the creative arts, specifically in music, dance, and creative writing. By the age of eleven, she had written her first song, and by fourteen she had joined "Shugar", a San Antonio based all-female singing group. With no formal vocal training, Meg attributes her singing success to listening to the radio growing up. She would spend countless hours mimicking some of her favorite female artists.
During her time at Clark High School, she was on the varsity dance team, and choreographed many of the team's hop-hop routines. Meg's knack for dance lead her to audition for the All-American Dance Team, where she was accepted to the team, and had the privilege of dancing at the Macy's Day Parade as well as the Orange Bowl. During winter break of her Senior year of High School, Meg took a trip to Los Angeles to showcase her musical talents for producers. With her biggest supporter by her side, her mom, Meg was offered a production deal for which after graduating high school, she moved to LA to pursue. While in Los Angeles, Meg's versatility was on full display as she worked as a model, singer, dancer, and actress.
Two years after moving out West, Meg's career got put on hold with the news of her Mother's breast cancer diagnosis. Meg then moved back to Texas to help with her mother's care. Meg soon got a job a Hooters, and ended up in their international calendar as Miss September in 2007. This led to swimsuit and other modeling work. With music being her top priority, Meg found other local bands to play with while in Texas. She was the lead vocalist for Red Light Circus, and Elephant Garden, performing regionally in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Kentucky.
In 2007 as her success grew, and her inner circle began to expand, she found herself dating celebrities and spending most of her time on planes. Between photo shoots and playing gigs with her band, Meg tried her hand in reality TV. Meg was cast on the ABC show, I Survived a Japanese Gameshow. She spent a month in Tokyo filming, and was the last woman standing, coming in third overall. She then signed on with USA Network to do another TV show, Summer Camp, which filmed in Big Bear, CA. Meg's most notable TV accomplishment was her Top 60 finish on Season 11 of American Idol.
Several years later, Meg's world came crashing down when her mother's cancer had returned after a brief remission. On April 6th, 2011, she passed away with Meg and her brothers by her side. A year later, Meg lost both her maternal grandparents to cancer. Meg needed a change so she moved back to LA to once again pursue her music and acting. While back in LA, she found print and commercial work. To date, Meg has done over 100 commercials, including national work for the beauty care company, Bodycology.
Meg began growing her musical following with performances at places such as Whiskey a Go Go, Knotts Berry Farm, and other top California Venues. But commercial work brought her to her next home in Nashville, TN, where she made friends on set of a commercial shoot, and decided to move to Music City. In Nashville, she quickly immersed herself in the songwriting community, where she began exploring an untapped side of her; the writer.
In 2014, she met her husband, Evan at a bar in downtown Nashville while she was performing on stage. In 2018 they were married, moved to Pittsburgh for Evan's job, and then finally to the suburbs of Chicago in 2021. After giving birth to their first daughter, Navy, in 2020, Meg revisited that writer side she began exploring so many years ago as a songwriter, only this time in novel-form. Two years after giving birth to their second daughter, Luciana, she finished the first draft of her novel.
As she steps firmly into her second act of life as a wife, mother, and writer, she finds joy in her everyday life through the tiny smiles of her daughters, the love of her husband, and her daydreams filled with story-building and fairy tales.
